NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/11/08)--Coast Guard Academy’s all-time leading scorer, senior Natalie Moyer, has been named a finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III 2008 State Farms Coaches’ All-America basketball team.

Moyer, the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Year, led the Bears to a school-record 25 wins, a 25-5 record and the program’s first ever ECAC New England Championship. Coast Guard, which had never won a postseason game, entering the season, was making its second postseason appearance.

The senior class won a record 63 games in four years. Moyer finished her career with 1,640 points. She is also the Coast Guard all-time leader in 3-pointers (259), steals (234) and games played (107).

Moyer was second on the team this season with 16.9 points while leading the NEWMAC with 84 three-pointers and a school-record 95 steals.

The 40 finalists, who are voted upon by the WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA award regions, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member All-America team which will be released on March 20th.
