Bobby Brown was named the Division III National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/10/08)--Senior All-America Bobby Brown was named the Division III National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week as he led the Bears to their third straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship.

Coast Guard entered the final round of competition at the NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships with a healthy lead, and that lead would only grow larger, as the Bears pulled away from the pack to win their third consecutive title.

Brown got Sunday evening's finals session underway in spectacular fashion for Coast Guard, finishing the 1,650 freestyle in a blistering 15:41.81. The time reached the NCAA "A" cut and also broke Brown's own NEWMAC Open, Championship and pool records, which had all been set in 2005.

Brown is heading back to the NCAA Championships as he set a pool and NEWMAC record in the 200 freestyle (1:39.34), a time which automatically qualifies him for the NCAA's which will take place Mar. 20-22 at Miami University in Ohio.

Brown also took a second place in the 500 freestyle (4:38.37) during the weekend.
