 Chris Hunt broke his own school record and qualified for the NCAA Championships in the weight throw. BOSTON, MASS.--(3/1/08)--Senior Chris Hunt finished third in the 35-pound weight throw at the All-New England Championships at Boston University, breaking his own school record and qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships March 14-15 at Ohio Northern University.
Hunt had a throw of 58 feet, 13/4 inches, breaking his own school record by more than two feet. He was competing against athletes from Divisions I, II and III.
Freshman Carl Luxhoj placed fifth in the long jump and broke a 30-year-old school record. Luxjob went 23-0, breaking the old record of 22-81/2 set in 1978 by Kurt Colella, CGA's current dean of academics.
Also for the Bears, the 4x800 relay team set a school record (7:46.36) finishing in sixth place.
Two runners were national qualifiers in the mile run, Mike Haas (4:12.08, ninth) and Mike Persun (4:15, 11th).
The men's 4x400 relay team posted the top finish of any Division III school (3:22.35) and finished ninth. |
