NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/19/08)--Coast Guard scored 32 straight points including the final 27 of the first half as the Bears set a single-game school record with 113 points and the host Bears ran their winning streak to five straight with a 113-61 non-conference win over Mitchell in the battle of the two New London schools.

Coast Guard (16-6), which had seven players in double figures led by senior Jeff Prebeck’s 15 points, led 28-24 with 6:56 left in the first half before the Bears blew the game open by scoring the final 27 points of the first half and then scored the the first five points of the second half as the Bears took a 60-24 lead with 19:13 left in the game.

Prebeck and senior Al Sowers each had nine rebounds to lead Coast Guard while Sowers, who also tied a season-high with seven assists, added 10 points to move into second place on the Bears’ all-time scoring list with 1,404 points.

Freshman Jevon James had a career-high 13 points, senior Grant Johnson added 13 points while sophomore Stefan Lewis had 12 points for Coast Guard.

Senior Steve Blum had a season-high 11 points while junior Craig Johnson also had 11 points in the win.

Sophomore Eric Murray led Mitchell (3-21) with 19 points while freshman James Brogan added 11 points for the Pequots.

Coast Guard shot a season-high 54.9 percent from the floor (39-71) and made a season-high 13, three-point field goals (13-29) shooting 44.8 percent from 3-point range.

Mitchell shot 35.1 percent from the floor (20-57) and 35.3 from 3-point range (6-17).

The Bears outrebounded the Pequots 48-27.
