Natalie Moyer tied the Bears' all-time scoring record with 1,444 points.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/5/08)--Sophomore Melissa Martinelli scored 11 straight points and 15 of the Bears first 18 points in the second half as Coast Guard rallied from an eight-point deficit and beat rival and host Conn. College 66-51 in a non-conference game.

Senior Natalie Moyer added 18 points and tied Lis Bosma (’05) as Coast Guard’s all-time leading scorer with 1,444 points.

Conn. College built a 41-33 lead with 17:32 left in the game and led 44-38 before Martinelli scored 11 straight points, starting a 14-0 Coast Guard run which was capped by a Moyer 3-pointer, giving the Bears a 52-44 lead with 8:21 left.

Martinelli had 16 of her game-high 24 points in the second half while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior Corinne McCormack had 10 points, nine rebounds and a team-high six assists while freshman Jennifer Tamminen added 10 points.

Conn. College made six of its first 10 field goals, jumping out to a 12-4 lead with 14:41 to go before the Bears responded with a 20-3 run to take a 24-15 lead with 6:29 left. The Camels led 15-11 before the Bears scored 13 straight for the 24-15 lead. Conn. College made just one of 11 field goals during the 20-3 run.

The Camels used a 15-3 run to end the first half turning a 28-19 deficit into a 34-31 lead. Senior Katy Serafin, who had a huge first half with 14 points, had 10 of those points in the final six minutes as the Camels regained the lead. Conn. College scored six points in the final 38 seconds on basket by Serafin and back-to-back buckets by sophomore Kirsten Frazer (11 first half points) as the Camels, who shot 51.6 percent (16-31) in the first half, led 34-31 at halftime.

Moyer led the Bears with 10 points and three assists in the first half while Martinelli added eight points and a team-high four rebounds. Coast Guard shot 41.7 percent in the first 20 minutes (10-24).

Serafin and Frazer each had 17 points to lead the Camels (10-10), who shot 37.9 percent in the game (22-58).

Coast Guard shot 42.2 percent from the field (19-45) and made just 24 of 39 from the foul line but improved to 15-3 overall.
