HARTFORD, CONN.--(1/30/08)--Sophomore tri-captain Jacob Gire pinned his opponent in the 141-pound weight class in 3:26 and the Bears forfeited a weight clas as Trinity edged out the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears 21-17. The Bantams improve to 3-13 on the season while the Bears fall to 2-9.

Andrew Armstrong (133) and Kevin Robinson (174) each won by major decision for the Bears while Matt Lacey (165), Dan Miller (184) and Troy Robison (Hwt.) each won by decision for Coast Guard.

First-year Chuckwuemeka Kanu made a valiant effort to give the Bantams a stranglehold on the match, but lost 4-2 to Miller at 184-pounds, bringing the Bears within four points, cutting the Bantam lead to 18-14. Kumf followed with a crucial 5-2 win over sophomore Dan Sorby at 197-pounds to seal the deal for the Bantams.

Senior tri-captain Derek Cohen won a significant match with a 6-5 win over sophomore Francis O'Brien in the 157-pound weight class, first-year Max Walk captured a 5-0 win over junior Alex Gebhart at 125-pounds, and first-year Nick Stewart won by forfeit to round out the Bantam scoring on the night.
