Senior Colin Boyle won by tech fall, but the Bears lost to WPI 28-20.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(1/29/08)--Sophomore Troy Robison and classmate Andrew Armstrong won by pin and senior Colin Boyle won by tech fall, but Coast Guard forfeited a pair of weight classes and lost to host WPI 28-20.
WPI jumped out to a 9-0 advantage when sixth-ranked Larry Loomis opened the match with a 6-1 victory at 174 pounds before Guzman pinned his opponent at 1:51. The Bears came back quickly when sophomore Dan Sorby scored a 4-0 victory at 197 and Robison (heavyweight) recorded a pin at 1:50 of the first period.
Armstrong (133 pounds) earned a pin for Coast Guard at 4:40 that was sandwiched between WPI forfeit wins at 125 and 141. The Crimson and Gray then secured the victory when Matt Wainwright registered an 11-4 win at 149 and freshman Tyler Howe collected a 15-3 major decision at 157.
Boyle, ranked fourth at 165 pounds, closed out the evening with a tech fall at 5:14 (16-1).
