Women's Swimming - Freshmen Lead Bears Past Merchant Marine 156-99
Freshman Kim Shadwick won both the 50 and 100 backstroke events.
KINGS POINT, N.Y.--(1/26/08)--Freshman Sarah Jane Otey and classmate Kim Shadwick were both double winners as Coast Guard beat rival Merchant Marine 156-99.
Otey won both the 100 freestyle (57.60) and the 200 freestyle (2:03.92) while Shadwick won the 50 backstroke (29.34) and the 100 backstroke (1:02.64).
Also for the Bears, junior Shea Winterberger won the 1,000 freestyle (11:50.32), junior Krystyna Vihonski won the 50 breaststroke (34.79), freshman Megan Willman took the 100 butterfly (1:05.80), freshman Holly Cordero won the 50 freestyle (26.47) and freshman Marie Canavan captured the 1-meter diving event (190.88).
The 200 medley relay team of Shadwick, Vihonski, Willman and senior Joan Hunter won with a time of 1:56.85.
