Junior Thomas Adams won the 400 meters and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team.
CONN.--(1/26/08)--Freshman Carl Luxhoj won both the long jump (6.72 meters) and triple jump (13.31 meters) while junior Thomas Adams won the 400 meters (51.83) and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team as Coast Guard placed first at the six team Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational.

The Bears won the meet with 213 points while Springfield was a distant second with 152 points.

Adams teamed with senior Jason Erickson, sophomore Mike Laurence and freshman Kyle Coleman to win the 4x400 relay (3:33.50). The Bears also won the 4x200 relay (1:38.99) with the team of senior Paul Sprenger, sophomore Dan Lagdon, freshman Steve Hager and sophomore Mark Amendolara and the 4x800 relay (8:18.47) with the team of junior Mike Haas, junior Mike Persun, junior Pat Fernandez and senior Matt Romano.

Also for the Bears, Romano won the 600 meters (1:24.70), senior Nate Rhodes captured the pole vault (4.42 meters) while freshman Jesse Cremeans (3,199 points) and senior Beau Belanger (3,084) finished one-two in the pentathlon as the Bears won a home meet for the second straight week to open the season.
