United States Coast Guard Academy - Department of Athletics - Men's Indoor Track

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/19/08)--Coast Guard opened the season by winning the five-team Coast Guard Invitational with 261 points. The Bears finished in front of Eastern Connecticut, 115; Conn College, 76; Rhode Island College, 61 and Kings Point 28.

Coast Guard's Chris Hunt won the 35-pound weight throw and qualified for the Division III New England championship meet. Every winner for Coast Guard qualified for the New Englands in this season opening meet.

Thomas Adams won the 400 and Jason Erickson won the 600. Mike Haas won the 800, while Mike Persun, Chris Marquis and Matt Romano finished first through third respectively.

Coast Guard's 4x400 unit of Adams, Boyle, Josh Wofford and Kyle Coleman finished first as did Erickson, Romano, Persun and Haas in the 4X800. Nate Rhodes, Mike Comerford and Jordan Kellam finished first through third in the pole vault, while Carl Luxhoj won the long jump and triple jump. Carl Stokes won the shot put.
