CAMBRIDGE, MASS.--(1/7/08)--Senior Jeff Prebeck moved into second place on Coast Guard’s all-time scoring list as he led the way with 19 points and 16 rebounds as the Bears won the opening game of the second semester and remained unbeaten with an 85-61 win over Lesley in the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Prebeck moved past Dave DuBois (’69), who was second all-time at the Academy with 1,361 points. Prebeck now has 1,368 career points.

Coast Guard is now 9-0 overall and the Bears are one of just six Division III teams in the nation that are still unbeaten. Amherst, Emerson, Geneseo, Rochester and UMass Dartmouth are also still unbeaten this year.

Craig Johnson added 16 points for Coast Guard while Steve Blum led the way with 10 rebounds as the Bears outrebounded the Lynx 55-25 in the game. The Bears scored the final 10 points of the first half, including a three-pointer by Al Sowers at the buzzer, turning a back-and-forth contest into a nine point lead at the half.

Coast Guard will open New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Wednesday at WPI in a rematch of last season’s NEWMAC tournament championship game in which the seventh-seeded Bears upset top-seeded WPI, 71-66.
