NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/8/07)--Senior Joan Hunter won both the 50 and 100 freestyle and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team, but Coast Guard lost to Division I Rhode Island 165-113.
The meet featured the battle between father and son as URI head coach Mick Westkott squared off against his son, Coast Guard head coach John Westkott.
Hunter won the 50 freestyle in 24.83, the 100 freestyle in 54.29 and teamed with three freshmen Emily Zalewski, Sarah-Jane Otey and Kim Shadwick to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.57).
Shadwick was also a double winner in the individiual events for the Bears, as she won both the 200 freestyle (1:57.62) and the 500 freestyle (5:16.09).
Also for the Bears, junior Joyce Haynsworth won the 200 mixed IM (2:28.08) and freshman Trayce Womack won the 100 butterfly (1:05.03). |
