All-America Bobby Brown and the Bears will look to win a third straight NEWMAC Championship this season.
The Bears return to the 2007-08 season as consecutive two-time NEWMAC champions. However, they will have their work cut out for them. After graduating a strong senior class (with three NCAA All-Americans), the team will look to the senior class to fill those shoes. Leading the men are tri-captains Bobby Brown, Dan Cloonan and Doug Fallon. The Bears will be short staffed as two of the team members will be attending other service academies in the Fall. So it will be a challenge to return to form, but they are focused on peaking at the conference championship in February.

Returning are NCAA qualifiers Brown, Fallon, Dale Cressman, Jim Okorn, and Timmy Berry who will be the backbone of a strong squad. The development of a deep freshman class will be critical to be successful in regular season meets as well as at the conference and NCAA level. Depth in diving will be a boost to the squad with all three divers returning this season lead by NEWMAC runner-up Cloonan.

Some changes to the regular season schedule will serve as immediate challenges first semester and prepare the team for peaking at the conference championship. The rescheduling of the University of Rhode Island after a four year hiatus, should serve as a step up for the men and a bench mark at the close of first semester. The team will look to avenge a close loss to New York University in November, as the two schools reunite for the second time this year. The close of first semester will bring URI, and the Connecticut College Invitational where the Bears are reigning champions.

After returning to campus for second semester (and the return of the Academy Exchange cadets to the roster) the Bears will have academy rival Merchant Marine and conference rivals Springfield and MIT. The Bears will look to avenge a heart breaking loss to MIT last year, who will likely be the close competition at the conference championship in ‘08. Merchant Marine will bring a closely contested meet as always, and the men will look to return to form against the Mariners. The final meets of the season will prepare the men for the February NEWMAC meet and hopefully return a core of athletes to NCAA championships.
