Women's Swimming - Bears Place 3rd at Union Relays
Freshman Kim Shadwick broke the school record in the 100 backstroke in her first collegiate meet.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.--(10/27/07)--Freshman Kim Shadwick broke the school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.11 and she was part of two second place relay teams as Coast Guard placed third of the five teams at the season opening Union Relays.
The Bears which had placed fifth in each of the past three seasons, had four second place finishes.
Freshmen divers Alyse Marquinez and Marie Canavan took second in both the one meter (269.85) and the three meter (221.18).
Other second place finishes were by the the 500 Crescendo Relay (Jenny Fields, Emily Zalewski, Sarah Jane Otey, Shadwick) with a time of 4:53.75 and the 200 free relay (Anna Moorman, Fields, Zalewski, Shadwick) in 1:45.41.
SUNY New Paltz won with 126 points, Union was second 112 while Coast Guard was third with 84 points.
