Sailing - Busy Weekend for Coast Guard Sailing |

 Jenn Proctor and Margaret Woodbridge sailing at Connecticut College New London, CT--(10/22/07)--Every member of the Coast Guard Academy Intercollegiate Dinghy Team traveled to a regatta this past weekend, competing at venues all over New England. The Bears sailed well at several different regattas, which should move them up from their current 8th place ranking in New England.
At the Sherman Hoyt Trophy, a major intersectional hosted by Brown University, the sailors were treated to unseasonably warm weather with varying breeze. The Bears sailed to a very strong 8th place finish out of 18 teams. Noel Shriner '08, Abbey LaFond '08 and Linden Dahlkemper '08 finished 5th in A Division with 78 points. Adam Frye '08 and Cezar Gomez '10 finished 12th in B Division with 109 points.
 The team gathers for a photo before hitting the water At the Oberg Trophy at MIT hosted by Northeastern, CGA finished 5th out of 17 teams, just five points behind Brown who finished 3rd. In A Division, Kevin Kuhn '08 and Jenn Hom '09 finished 9th with 137 points. In B Division, Sam Ingham '11 and Kirstin Haas '10 finished 2nd with 84 points, and in C Division, Jon Duffet '11 and Tanya Kuprak '11 finished 5th with 116 points.
Sailing close to home but in a much different venue, the women's team traveled to Connecticut College to compete for the Stu Nelson Trophy. Significant shifts from every direction made for a very difficult weekend on the water. The women finished 14th out of 18 teams. Krysta Rohde '11 and Nicole Bredariol '09 sailed A Division and Jenn Proctor '11 and Margaret Woodbridge '10 sailed B Division.
At the Wellehan Trophy hosted by the University of Southern Maine, the Bears finished 6th out of 14 teams. Sailing for the team were Ian Oviatt '10, Scott Balog '09, Elise Maher '11, Chris Grabe '10, and Will Cotta '11.
At the Southern Series hosted by Yale University, CGA finished 6th out of 12 teams. Sailing for the Bears were Mike Higbie '09, Geoff Single '10, Katie Spira '11, Pablo Riguero '11, and Eric Johnson '10.
