SOUTH HADLEY, MASS.--(10/20/07)--Sophomore forward Lauren Orr tallied the winner just 56 seconds into overtime to propel the Mount Holyoke College women’s soccer team to a 1-0 triumph over the Coast Guard Academy this afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field.

With their first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory of the 2007 season, the Lyons snapped a six match slide. Coast Guard remained winless in league play this fall.

Neither team scored during regulation time, sending the content to overtime. Less than one minute into the first extra frame, Orr used a feed from first year forward Jacquelyn Archibald to notch the golden goal. It was her team leading eighth marker of the fall and third match winner this season.

Mount Holyoke earned a 20-13 edge in the shot column, including a 12-4 margin in the second half and overtime.

Sophomore Elaine Harvey got the start between the pipes for the Lyons, turning away five shots in the first half of play. Sophia Axtman, who took over after the intermission, was credited with the win despite facing no shots. The duo combined for Mount Holyoke’s second shutout of the year.

Coast Guard junior goalkeeper Trish Ohle came up with 13 saves in a losing effort.
