Junior Thomas Cameron had a goal and two assists in the 3-1 win over WPI.
WORCESTER, MASS.--(10/19/07)--Junior Thomas Cameron played a part in all three of Coast Guard’s goals to help propel the Bears to a 3-1 victory over host WPI at a rain-soaked Alumni Field. With the win, Coast Guard improves its record to 8-4-1 on the season and 2-2-1 in NEWMAC play while WPI falls to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, the Bears scored a pair of goals in a 2:26 span early in the second half. Cameron got Coast Guard on the board in the 54th minute after a long pass from senior Martin Villa. The Bears kept the pressure on when Cameron’s fed found junior David O’Brien, who buried it in the back of the net for his fourth tally of the year.

The Engineers would not go away quietly. Senior Brandon Finzel sliced the lead to 2-1 when he knocked home a pass from Keeon Tabrizi for his first goal of the season in the 66th minute.

Coast Guard added an insurance marker in the 84th minute when Cameron found junior Peter Deneen, who made a nice move past the WPI goalkeeper and tucked the ball into the corner of the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Sophomore Tim Olah picked up the win in net for the Bears, recording one save. WPI goalkeeper Steve Hoffer was credited with four saves, including an outstanding diving stop in each half. Senior Timothy Lontz helped keep the game scoreless in the first half when he cleared a ball of the line midway through the stanza.
