NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/16/07)--Freshman Kristen Garza scored both WPI goals leading the Engineers to a 2-1 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Coast Guard (1-13, 0-7) got on the board first as junior Jen Ferreira fed classmate Mary Morgan who scored giving the Bears a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.
Garza tied the match, scoring on a scramble in front of the goal in the 36th minute and game remained tied going into halftime.
Garza scored the eventual game winner in the 70th minute with junior Jocelyn Moody assiting for the Engineers (7-8, 3-4).
WPI outshot Coast Guard 15-9.
Senior Nicole DeCampo made four saves to record the win in goal for WPI while Coast Guard junior Trish Ohle made seven saves for the Bears, who have dropped nine straight.
