NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/16/07)--Junior Nicole Gurr had 20 kills leading Coast Guard to a 3-0 (30-21, 30-9, 30-21) win over WPI in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.

Coast Guard (17-4, 5-2) won the first game 30-21 and jumped out to a commanding 12-2 lead in game two, increased it to 20-5 enroute to a 30-9 win. WPI jumped out to a 5-1 lead and led 10-5 before Coast Guard scored 14 of the next 15 points to take a 19-11 lead before winning game three 30-21.

Sophomores Courtney Wolf and Carin Sweeney each had six kills while senior Anne Staley had 34 assists for Coast Guard.

Junior Christina Grant led WPI (11-15, 1-6) with seven kills, sophomore Becca Holmberg led the way with 12 digs while junior Kathryn Bomba chipped in with eight digs for the Engineers.
