Juinor Nicole Gurr had 36 kills to lead the Bears to a pair of wins.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/6/07)--Junior Nicole Gurr had 36 kills while senior Corinne McCormack added 34 kills as the Bears swept a pair of matches from Conn. College and Endicott.

Coast Guard (14-3) beat Conn. College 3-1 (30-11, 22-30, 32-30, 30-28) and Endicott 3-1 (30-22, 25-30, 30-18, 30-18).

In the first match of the day vs. Conn. College, McCormack led the way with 20 kills, 14 digs, four aces and four aces while Gurr added 18 kills and 13 digs.

In game one, Coast Guard jumped to 6-1 lead and then 14-5 enroute to the 30-11 win.

Conn. College (12-5) started strong in game two with a 6-0 run to start the game, Coast Guard trailed 23-20 before the Camels won it 30-25.

Coast Guard trailed 19-11 in game three before pulling even at 29-29 and won 32-30 before holding off the Camels in game four 30-28 to win the match.

In the Bears second match of the day, Gurr led the way with 24 kills, 16 digs and four aces while McCormack added 18 kills and 23 digs in the win over Endicott.

Coast Guard freshman Ashley Bullard had 97 assists and 30 digs in the two matches while junior Mary Bitzer had 17 kills and senior Megan Durbin had 40 digs.

Endicott (16-7) was led by Steph Wiese with seven kills while Meghan Hall had 16 digs and 33 assists.

In the other match of the day, Endicott beat Conn. College 3-0 (30-21, 30-22, 30-26) as Wiese had 12 kills and Hayley Janelle had eight kills and five blocks.
