SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(9/27/07)-- The Springfield College women's soccer team tallied three goals in the opening 7:48 of the match en route to a 10-0 win against Coast Guard in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Pride, who have now won five in a row, improve to 9-1, 2-0 in league play while Coast Guard drops to 1-7, 0-2.
Nicole Hanewich opened up the scoring 1:05 into the match when Lauren Peltier slipped a ball through the Bears defense which Hanewich fired past keeper Trish Ohle. Hanewich found Catlin Sawczuk alone on the left side of the field just over four minutes later and Sawczuk lofted a ball into the back of the net. Sawczuk then followed up her own shot that was saved by Ohle on a at the 7:48 mark and blasted in the loose ball in front of the goal for the Pride's third tally. Springfield went on to tally two more goals in the first half, as Hanewich found the back of the net once again and Delany Cantrall converted on a penalty kick.
In the second stanza, plenty of new faces recorded goals for the Pride as Rory Pogmore, Brittany Collins, Kristen Stewart and Jen Courossi each tallied goals.
Earning her first collegiate start, Katie Delude earned the win as her and Lindsay Volk registered the shutout. The Pride outshot the Bears 37-2 in the game, including a 22-0 advantage in the first half.
