LEWISTON, MAINE--(9/28/07)--Junior Nicole Gurr had 18 kills, 12 digs, five aces and three blocks as Coast Guard dropped the first two games, but rallied to win a five-set thriller over Bowdoin 3-2 (28-30, 20-30, 30-27, 30-25, 17-15) to extend its winning streak to eight straight before beating UMass Dartmouth 3-0 (30-15, 30-25, 30-24), the Bears ninth straight win, at the first day of play at the Bates Invitational

In the opening match vs. Bowdoin, junior Mary Bitzer had 16 kills and three blocks, senior Corinne McCormack added 15 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and three aces while freshman Ashley Bullard led the way with 42 assists.

In the second match of the night, Gurr again led the way with 14 kills while McCormack had another double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Courtney Wolf added seven kills and three blocks while Bullard had 29 assists for the Bears, who improved to 10-2 overall.
