MIDDLETOWN, CONN.--(9/26/07)--Alan Ashefelter's goal in the 76th minute proved to be the game winner as Wesleyan beat Coast Guard 2-1 in a non-conference game. The Cardinals have now beaten Coast Guard in nine of the last 11 meetings.

Ashefelter picked up a loose ball near the top of the 18-box and hit a bounding shot inside the near post for game winner.

Following a scoreless first half, Ozzie Parente put Wesleyan (2-4) on the board in the 58th minute.

Coast Guard tied the game in the 66th minute on a goal by David O'Brien.

Jamie Hiteshew made eight saves to pickup the win for Wesleyan while Chris Tarbell made three saves for Coast Guard.

Coast Guard (5-3) outshot Wesleyan 16-15.
