NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/25/07)--Sophomore forward Sharon Katz tallied two goals and one assist in the first half, leading Connecticut College to an 8-2 victory against Coast Guard in a Whaling City showdown played on Harkness Green Tuesday afternoon.

Chelsea Johnson chipped in with two scores and Jackie Wade contributed a goal and an assist in the offensive uprising. It was the third consecutive victory for the hosts, who tallied the highest goal total for a Camel women´s soccer team since October of 2002.

Junior midfielder Jen Ferreira and K.C. Gaudette each notched scores for the Bears, who led a 2-1 at the mid-point of the first half. Coast Guard junior keeper Trish Ohle finished with 11 saves and was under constant pressure throughout the afternoon. Sophomore Bailey Andrews picked up the victory with one save for the hosts.

Trailing 2-1, the Camels seized control of the contest in the latter stages of the first half, erupting with three scores over a span of 5:36. Junior Analisse Rios, a member of the Bolivian National team, set up the equalizer, serving a cross from the right side to Jackie Wade, who re-directed the ball with a header at 32:14. With 7:42 remaining in the half, Wade controlled the ball in the center of the scoring box and fed Katz for a score at the left post side of the net. Just 36 seconds later, Katz made it a 4-2 game, corralling a loose ball at the left post side of the net for her third of the season.

Chelsea Johnson scored two of the next four goals but it was more than enough as the hosts rolled to the 8-2 victory.
