NEW LONDON, CONN.--(9/22/07)--Sophomore Adrian Schippers scored the only goal of the game 2:38 into the second half as Springfield beat Coast Guard 1-0 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
Junior Dan Cotter assisted on Schippers goal as the Pride evened their record to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Senior BJ Sturdivant made four saves to record the shutout.
Coast Guard (5-2, 0-1), playing its conference opener, had its three game win streak snapped as it outshot Springfield 16-14.
Coast Guard goalkeeper freshman Chris Tarbell allowed his first career goal. Tarbell had recorded three straight shutouts entering the game. He made five saves in the game.
