Chris Hunt won the NEWMAC championshipin the hammer with a throw of 167-5.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/28/07)--Sam England won the 400 meter hurdles and was part of the winning 4x400 meter relay team leading host Coast Guard to a third place finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.

England won the 400 meters hurdles with a time of 55.30 and teamed with Jason Erickson, Matt Romano and Thomas Adams to win the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:22.08.

Also winning NEWMAC championships for the Bears were Steve Blum in the javelin (181-9) and Chris Hunt in the hammer (167-5).

Earning All-conference honors with second place finishes were Erickson in the 800 meters (1:57.93), Kevan Hanson in the discus (144-10), Zach Geyer in the high jump (6-5) and Nate Rhodes in the pole vault (14-4).

MIT won the championship with 247 points, Springfield was second with 210 while the Bears were third with 162 points.

Coast Guard was without All-America Mike Flint, who missed the meet due to an illness.
