LOWELL, MASS.--(4/14/07)--The US Coast Guard Academy Men's Crew came away with a big win on Saturday, racing Colby College's Varsity eight against CGA's Varsity and Second Varsity eights.

The Bears 1V took control of the race right away jumping out to a one length lead over Colby and open water on the CGA 2V through the 500 meter mark only to have the Colby 1V and CGA 2V surge through the second 500m to pull within 4 seats. Responding well, the CGA 1V moved back to a length lead during the third 500m and maintained this lead to the finish. The Bears 1V won in a time of 5:53.99, 2 seconds ahead of Colby and 8 seconds of the CGA 2V.
