WORCESTER, MASS.--(4/11/07)--Jeannie Crump had three hits including a homerun and three RBI's as Coast Guard won the first game of a double header 9-7 before dropping the night cap 7-4.

Clark is now 13-11 and 4-4 in league play, while Coast Guard is now 10-14 (4-6 NEWMAC).

In the opener, Coast Guard broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Crump hit an infield single for an RBI, Clark committed two consecutive errors that scored a pair of runs and a groundout by Carin Sweeney gave the Bears the 7-3 advantage.

Clark tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame when Lauren Ackein hit a two-run double to right center, but Crump extended Coast Guard’s margin to 9-5 with a two-run homer in the sixth.

Warren cracked her second round-tripper of the day and fifth in as many days in the bottom of the sixth to bring the Cougars within two at 9-7, but Bears pitcher Colleen Perry allowed just one hit in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.

Perry scattered eight hits and fanned nine in the complete game win. Melissa Traft was the losing pitcher for the Cougars.

In the nightcap, the Cougars took advantage of a wild pitch and an infield error and Lauren Blake delivered an RBI single for a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Coast Guard got on the board in the fifth inning when Leanna Minton smacked a run-producing triple to centerfield. However, Kaitlin Kelley’s three-run homerun to left field, her first of the season, highlighted a four-run fifth inning to increase the Cougars lead (7-1).

The Bears threatened with three runs in the sixth, but would get no closer.

Keely Balthrop finished with two hits for Coast Guard.

Heather Warren earned the complete game victory for the Cougars. She allowed seven hits, four runs and struck out two.

Katie Murray (4-4) took the loss for Coast Guard.
