Pete Schofield was named the NEWMAC Co-Pitcher of the Week after not allowing a run in 10 2/3 innings last week.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/9/07)--Coast Guard Academy sophomore Pete Schofield was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Co-Pitcher of the Week as he recorded his first career win by firing a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Clark.
Schofield, who entered the week with a 9.26 ERA, began the week by throwing 3 2/3 innings of two hit relief in a loss to Johnson and Wales on Tuesday before the three-hit shutout on Saturday.
he sophomore pitched 10 2/3 innings allowing just five singles while walking five and striking out seven during the week to even his record a 1-1 and lower his ERA to 4.84.
Coast Guard won the Pitcher of the Week Award for the third time in four weeks as junior Jacob Pitchford won it in back-to-back weeks on March 18th and 25th.
The Bears are 9-10 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
