BRISTOL, R.I.—-(3/28/07)--Erin Cullen had three hits and four RBI’s including a key three-run double in the sixth as Coast Guard rallied for a 10-7 win over Roger Williams to salvage a split of the non-conference doubleheader. The Bears spotted the Hawks seven unearned runs in the first inning of the first game and eventually took the lead before losing 11-10.

Roger Williams led 6-3 in game two before the Bears scored twice in the fifth and then Cullen’s three-run double gave the Bears the lead for good at 8-6.

In the sixth, Annette Boston and Jeannie Crump singled, Carin Sweeney reached on an error to load the bases. Colleen Denny reached on a fielder’s choice in which Boston was out at home before Cullen cleared the bases.

LeEllen Lewis led off the home half of the sixth with a deep homer to center to cut the Bears lead to 8-7.

Coast Guard (5-7) added a pair or insurance runs in the top of the seventh as Leanna Minton led off with a triple, Boston laid down a perfect squeeze bunt scoring Minton and Cullen again delivered, this time an RBI single as the Bears pushed the lead to 10-7.

Katie Murray scattered six hits to pickup the win improving to 3-0 on the season and she also had three hits at the plate in game two. Minton, Boston and Mary Gilday each had two hits for the Bears in game two.

In the opener, Coast Guard, playing its first game in 12 days, showed the rust as Roger Williams took advantage of seven Coast Guard errors as all 11 runs were unearned. The Hawks scored seven unearned runs in the first only to see Coast Guard come all the way back with a three-run rally in the top of the seventh to take a 10-9 lead. Freshman Jackie Ramirez tied the game with a pinch hit RBI double before Gilday drove in the go ahead run with a ground out.

Roger Williams (12-4) scored the tying and winning run in the bottom half of the seventh on a throwing error.

Minton, Boston, Crump and Denny each had two hits for the Bears in the opener.
