(photo by Jeff Bartlett) NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/27/07)--Peter Olson and Tim Henault each had four hits while Michael Naylor hit a pair of solo homers and finished with three hits and three RBI’s leading a 26 hit attack as Rhode Island College outslugged Coast Guard 22-11 in a non-conference game which featured a combined 45 hits.
RIC (6-4) scored in five of the first six innings including seven runs in the sixth to take a 17-3 lead.
Jared Rossi had three hits, three runs scored and three RBI’s, Olson was 4 for 4 with a double, four runs scored and two RBI’s while Henault was 4 for 5 with a pair of two-run singles for the Anchormen.
Also for RIC, Jim Connell had three hits including a pair of doubles and three runs scored, Luis Feliz was 2 for 2 with a double and three RBI’s while Jordan Amorin was 2 for 2 with a double.
Bret Nichols and Kevin Keefe each had three hits and three RBI’s to lead Coast Guard’s 19 hit attack. Nichols had a homer and also scored a pair of runs for the Bears.
Chuck Arena added three hits while Ken Franklin, Mike Mitchell and Kevin Higgins each added two hits for the Bears, with Higgins blasted his second homer of the season.
Eric Thibault (1-2) worked five innings allowing 13 hits and six runs, all earned to pickup his first win of the season for RIC.
Pete Schofield (0-1) worked four innings and allowed six runs, all earned, and took the loss for Coast Guard. |
