Men's Soccer - Senkier, Steuer Selected for NEISL All-Star Game
Scott Senkier was one of two Coast Guard seniors selected for the NEISL All-Star Game.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(3/26/07)--Coast Guard Academy seniors Scott Senkier and Casey Steuer have been selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) All-Star game at Clark University on April 28th.
Senkier, a tri-captain, was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-New England fourth team and second team All-conference selection in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) this season. Senkier was a first team All-conference selection last season and a second team selection in 2004. He was the backbone of the Coast Guard defense which has posted nine shutouts in 18 games this season. Senkier had one goal and three assists.
Steuer was named to the All-conference first team as he was the Bears leading scorer with six goals and six assists. This was the first All-conference honor for Steuer.
Coast Guard earned a berth to the ECAC Tournament for the third time in four years this season and finished 10-5-4 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play. The Bears advanced to the NEWMAC semfinals where they played to a scoreless tie with eventual champion Wheaton, which advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4.
