Charleston, SC--(2/18/07)--The Coast Guard Academy Sailing Team finished 13th this past weekend at the College of Charleston Spring Intersectional. Windy conditions and strong current made for very challenging racing. On Saturday, the breeze started out at a mild 3-5 mph from the NNW then shifted to 12-18 mph from the SSW. On Sunday, races were sailed in a 18-25 mph WNW wind with gusts into the low 30's. In A-Divison, Ben Komar '07 and Jenn Hom '09 finished 13th with several top 10 finishes. In B-Divison, Kevin Kuhn '08 and Kirstin Hass '10 also finished 13th with several top finishes, including a 2nd and a 4th. College of Charleston sailed very well on their home waters and won the regatta with 126 points over Yale with 147 points and New York Maritime Academy with 155 points.

The Bears will return to College of Charleston next weekend for the Bob Bavier Team Race.
