NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/27/07)--Junior Natalie Moyer had 17 of her game-high 27 points in the second half including the 1,000th of her career and DeCarol Davis was four-for-four from the foul line in the final 30 seconds as Coast Guard snapped a 10-game losing streak in the series against Springfield, beating the Pride 67-59, the Bears first ever home win over Springfield.

Moyer, who hit on six of 11 three-pointers, became the sixth player in Coast Guard history to score 1,000 points. She scored her 1,000th point on basket with 5:05 left in the game. She finished the game with 1,003 career points.

Coast Guard (10-8, 4-3) led by as many as ten at 30-20 with 5:03 left in the first half, but Springfield scored eight straight making it 30-28 with 2:04 left. Coast Guard led 33-30 at halftime.

The Bears had their biggest lead of the second half 55-46 with 10:20 remaining. Springfield (8-10, 4-4) used a 9-3 spurt cutting the lead to 58-55 with 5:18 left in the game.

Moyer’s milestone basket pushed the Bears lead back to 60-55 with 5:05 left. Amanda Hill’s hoop with 3:45 left cut the lead to 60-57.

Moyer hit a pair of free throws with 2:11 left. Christine Cotter made two of her own with 1:48 left and the Bears led 62-59. The Bears would score the final five points of the game from the foul line.

Davis had a season-high 19 points for Coast Guard while Melissa Martinelli recorded her 10th double-double of the season as she finished with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Laura Hutchinson led the Bears with five assists while Moyer had a game-high six steals.

Tara McCarthy led Springfield with 15 points while Corey Finch had 14 points. Lauren O’Connor led the Pride with eight rebounds to go with her eight points.

Coast Guard hit 10 of 30 from three-point range and 21 of 26 from the foul line to beat the Pride for the first time since a 71-64 win at Springfield on Feb. 18, 2003.

Springfield made just four of 18 from three-point range while making 22 of 56 from the floor.
