NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/6/06)--Wesleyan used a 30-8 spurt over the span of 13 minutes in the first half and the Cardinals used a 15-2 run to start the second half enroute to a 67-60 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.

Coast Guard jumped out to a 9-3 lead with 16:45 left in the first half before Wesleyan outscored the Bears 30-8 over the next 13 minutes to take at 33-17 lead with 3:44 left. Wesleyan led 38-26 at halftime. Coast Guard was hurt by 16 first half turnovers.

The Cardinals used a 15-2 run to start the second half taking a 53-28 lead with 15:55 left.

Coast Guard would not go quietly as the Bears responded with a 18-2 run cutting the lead to 55-46 with 11:21 left. The Bears would get as close as seven as Natalie Moyer hit a pair of free throws with 1:23 left for the final points of the game.

Ali Fourney had 15 of her team-high 17 points in the second half for Wesleyan (3-2) while Meredith Lowe added 11 points and Nikki Maletta 10 points for the Cardinals.

Moyer led the Bears with 22 points to go with her 10 rebounds while DeCarol Davis added 15 points and Melissa Martinelli had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Coast Guard, which had its three-game win streak snapped, sank 20 of 21 from the foul line with Moyer going 10 for 10 and Davis hitting all seven free throws.
