Women's Basketball - Corinne McCormack Leads Bears Past Trinity
Junior Corinne McCormack had her first career double-double to lead the Bears past Trinity.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/2/06)--Junior Corinne McCormack had her first career double-double as she had a career-high 11 points to go with a career best 12 rebounds and Coast Guard used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to win its third straight beating Trinity 58-51 in a non-conference game.
Coast Guard (3-2), which snapped a personal three-game losing streak against Trinity, jumped out to a 15-7 lead to start the game and led 27-22 at halftime.
The Bears were leading 42-39 with 11 minutes left in the game when a 10-0 spurt allowed Coast Guard to open its largest lead of the game 52-39 with 6:43 left in the game. Junior DeCarol Davis began the run with a three-pointer while junior Natalie Moyer’s three-pointer put the Bears up 13.
Trinity (3-2) battled back using a 12-3 spurt and pulled to within 55-51 on basket by freshman Christine Card with 4:39 left. Card’s basket however would be the final points of the game for the Bantams.
Coast Guard junior Laura Hutchinson, who had a team-high six assists, knocked down three of four free throws for the only points in the final 4:39 of the game.
Senior Sarah Cox led the Bantams with 18 points and seven assists to go with her nine rebounds while junior Kathleen Conlon added 13 points for Trinity. Freshman Jessica Sims had a game-high 15 rebounds for the Bantams.
