WORCESTER, MASS.--(11/28/06)--Junior Natalie Moyer tied a school-record with nine three-pointers as she finished with 40 points, 24 in just over 12 minutes in the second half, leading Coast Guard to its first win of the season an 85-70 win over Anna Maria in a non-conference game.
Moyer had 16 points including four treys in the first half as Coast Guard battled back from an early 7-0 deficit using a 14-4 run to take a 14-11 lead with 13:50 left in the first half. The Bears outscored the Amcats 27-11 over the final 12 minutes of the first half for a 43-26 lead at halftime.
Freshman Melissa Martinelli scored Coast Guard's first six points in the second half before Moyer took over.
Moyer scored the next 12 points for the Bears and 19 of Coast Guard's next 22 points. She was nine for 18 from three-point range on the night. She scored he final points of the game, her final three-pointer of the game with 7:42 left giving Coast Guard a 80-49 lead. She would take the rest of the night off.
Moyer tied the school record of nine three-pointers held by Meredith Engelke, who had nine treys on February 8, 1998. Moyer set the Coast Guard single-game scoring record with 47 points vs. Babson last season.
Martinelli finished with a career-high 18 points and also led the team with eight rebounds.
Junior Laura Hutchinson had eight assists to lead the Bears (1-2).
Meghan DePatsy led Anna Maria with 26 points and 21 rebounds.
