 Junior punter Jesse Harms was named to the D II/III N.E Football Writers team for the second time in his career. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(11/20/06)--Coast Guard Academy freshman free safety Steve Arguelles and junior punter Jesse Harms were named to the 2006 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England team.
Arguelles, who leads the nation, Divisions I, II and III, and tied a school-record with 11 interceptions this season, was named unanimous choice as the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division Defensive Rookie of the Year and a first-team All-division selection.
Harms, who led the NEFC and was among the national leaders with a 41.6 yard average, makes the team for the second time in his career as he was also named to the team as a freshman. Harms was the first-team All-Bogan Division punter and led all of New England, Divisions I, II and III, with his 41.6 yard average.
Coast Guard was 8-1 in the regular season and won the NEFC Bogan Division with a perfect 7-0 record. The Bears finished the season 8-3 after winning just seven total games in the last three seasons combined.
Arguelles and Harms were two of six players named to the team from the NEFC. Thirty players from 20 different teams made up the 2006 team.
The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Banquet on Thursday, Dec. 14th at Casa di Fiore in Wilmington, Mass. |
