Volleyball - Corinne McCormack Named NEWMAC Player of the Week Print E-mail
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/30/06)--Coast Guard Academy junior Corinne McCormack has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Player of the Week as she led the Bears to the NEWMAC regular season championship for the second time in three years.

McCormack hit 32 percent and totaled 37 kills, 18 digs, six blocks and six aces as the Bears swept Clark and Wellesley to win their second NEWMAC regular season championship. The Bears also won the regular season championship in 2004.

Coast Guard, the #1 team in the NCAA New England regional poll, has won a school record tying 16 straight and the Bears are now 20-2 overall.

Top-seeded Coast Guard will host eighth-seeded Babson on Tuesday night in the NEWMAC Tournament first round.

Coast Guard has lost in the NEWMAC Tournament championship game in each of the last two seasons.
