Women's Cross Country - Bears Capture First Ever NEWMAC Championship
Junior JoEllen Arons led the way as the Bears won their first ever NEWMAC Championship
SOUTH HADLEY, MASS.--(10/28/06)--Junior JoEllen Arons was one three Coast Guard runners to place in the top seven, as she placed fourth overall, leading Coast Guard to its first ever New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Championship.
Arons had a time of 20:02.7 while Caitlin Quinn was sixth overall (20:13.10) and Aidan VanCleef was seventh overall (20:14.30). All three runners earn All-conference honors.
Rounding out the top five for the Bears were Sara McGuigan in 16th place and Bryce Van Cleef in 21st.
The Bears had 54 points to beat defending champion Wellesley, which placed second with 66 points.
