NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/19/06)--Junior co-captain Corinne McCormack had 19 kills as she became just the seventh player to collect over 1,000 career kills leading Coast Guard to its 12th straight win, a 3-1 (30-27, 31-29, 28-30, 30-18), decision over neighbor Connecticut College in a non-conference game.


McCormack, who also had a team-high 28 digs, four blocks and four aces, finished the night with 1,007 careeer kills.

In game one, Coast Guard used a 6-1 run stretching a 15-13 lead into a 21-14 lead and the Bears held on for a 30-27 win.

Conn. College (13-8) had a chance to win game two as the Camels led 29-28, but Coast Guard rallied by scoring three straight points to end the game, winning 31-29.

The Camels held off a ferocious Coast Guard comeback in game three. Conn. College led 28-18 before the Bears scored nine straight to pull to within 28-27 then the Camels regrouped for a 30-28 win.

Coast Guard closed out the match with a 30-18 win in game four.

Sophomore Nicole Gurr had a game-high 30 kills to go with 25 digs while freshman Leanna Minton led the Bears with five aces.

Senior co-captain Christine Rostowfske led the Bears (16-2) with 65 assists.

Sophomore Caitlin Tomaska led Conn. College with 14 kill and 25 digs. Sophomore Jenna Tjossem had nine kills and five blocks while Meg Christman had a game-high 10 blocks for the Camels.
