NEW LONDON, CONN.--(10/3/06)--Junior co-captain Corinne McCormack had 22 kills, 12 digs and four aces while sophomore Nicole Gurr added 21 kills and four aces leading Coast Guard to its sixth straight win, a 3-1 victory over Springfield in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.


In game one with the score tied 25-25, Coast Guard scored five of the final six points including the game-winner on an ace by junior Kimberly Jung for a 30-26 win.

The Pride evened the match winning game two 30-27 before Coast Guard jumped out to a 13-4 lead in game three enroute to a 30-14 win.

Coast Guard (10-2, 4-1) closed out the match by scoring four of the final four points for a 30-25 win.

Junior Kimberly Jung added 13 kills, nine digs and four aces for the Bears.

Senior tri-captain MaryKathryn O’Neil led the Pride (13-4, 3-2) with 12 kills while senior tri-captain Leah Hettrick had 21 digs.
