 Amanda Frederick earned NFCA first team All-region honors. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/14/10)--Coast Guard had three players named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England region team.
Sophomore pitcher Hayley Feindel and junior catcher Amanda Frederick were named to the first team while senior outfielder Carin Sweeney was named to the second team.
The Bears, who are 31-8 on the season, won their second straight NEWMAC regular season championship before earning the programs first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by winning its first NEWMAC tournament championship.
The third-seeded Bears will take on second-seeded Brandeis today at 4 p.m. and you can watch and listen to all the action live at the below regional website.

Feindel (29-8), who leads the nation with 29 wins, 342 strikeouts and 14 shutouts, threw her fifth no-hitter of the season yesterday in the Bears 2-0 win over Salem State in the NCAA tournament.
Hayley Feindel earns first team honors for the second straight season. She was named NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season last week.
Frederick earned first team honors after making the second team last year. She is a three-time All-conference first team selection and was the NEWMAC Player of the Year this season.
The junior catcher, who hit her 20th career homer yesterday, leads the team with a .469 batting average, nine home runs, 15 doubles, 39 runs scored, 42 RBI’s, a .797 slugging percentage, a .482 on base percentage.
Sweeney is hitting .355 with three doubles, three homers and 26 RBI’s and has not made an error all season with 29 putouts and five assists.
