Hayley Feindel threw her fifth no-hitter of the season and sixth of her career in the win.
WELLESLEY, MASS.--(5/13/10)--New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Year Hayley Feindel threw her fifth no-hitter of the season and sixth of her career while NEWMAC Player of the Year Amanda Frederick homered as third-seeded Coast Guard beat sixth-seeded Salem State 2-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship at Wellesley College.

The Bears will play second-seeded Brandeis on Friday at 4 p.m.

Coast Guard got on the board in the bottom of the second, when Courtney Wolf led off with a single and advanced to second a sacrifice bunt. After moving over to third on a passed ball, Wolf scampered home on Jamie Kim's RBI single to center to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, Coast Guard added an insurance run as Frederick hit her 20th career homer to right center for a 2-0 lead.

Frederick led Coast Guard with two hits, including her dinger. Wolf, Kim, and Holli Bastinck also hit safely for the Bears (31-8).

Feindel (29-8), who leads the nation in wins (29), strikeouts (342) and shutouts (14) was over-powering in the win, fanning 11 and walking four. She has three ho-hitters in her last six games after throwing a pair in the NEWMAC tournament.

Katelynn Fanning (21-6) took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits.
