Blake Maurer won both his singles and doubles match to lead the Bears past Springfield.
SPRINGFIELD, MASS.--(4/17/10)--The Coast Guard Academy men's tennis team took a 2-1 lead after doubles, and went on to defeat their counterparts from Springfield College, 6-3, indoors this afternoon at the Springfield College Field House.

With the loss, SC falls to 4-11 overall, and 1-4 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Coast Guard improves its overall record to 9-8, and its NEWMAC record to 3-2.

Coast Guard won at the top four singles slots, including at No. 1 as sophomore Greg Mitchell won 6-2, 7-5.

Nick Martin (#2), Chris Pappe (#3) and Blake Maurer (#4) also won singles matches for Coast Guard.

Mitchell and Pappe won at #1 doubles 8-6 while Martin and Maurer won 8-4 at #2 doubles for the Bears.
