 Anna Funk had three hits and four RBI's in the game two win. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/13/10)--Amanda Frederick was 6 for 7 with a double, two homers, six runs scored and six RBI’s while Holli Bastinck was 5 for 7 with two doubles, four runs scored and five RBI’s as host Coast Guard, ranked fourth in New England, scored 29 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Mitchell. The Bears won the opener 10-0 in five innings before winning game two 19-0 also in five innings.
Frederick to the Bears started right away with a three-run homer in the first inning of the opener and was 3 for 3 with a double, a pair of homers and five RBI’s while Bastinck was also 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI’s in the game one win.
Becky Miller had two hits and scored a pair of runs in the opener for Coast Guard which ran its winning streak to six and improved to 23-6 overall.
Hayley Feindel fired a one-hit shutout with one walk and eight strikeouts in the opener.
Kelly Reynolds had the only hit of the game for Mitchell, a single in the second.
Kristina Torres (5-5) took the loss for the Mariners in game one.
In the nightcap, Coast Guard scored six times in the first with Megan Cook delivering an RBI single before Anna Funk ripped a two-run double for the 6-0 lead.
Funk was 3 for 4 with a career-high four RBI’s in the game two win while Frederick and Maddie Buchert were each 3 for 4 in the second game. Courtney Wolf was two for three with a three-run homer and four RBI’s in game two.
Miller, Caitlin Force and Jamie Kim each added two hits in the win as Coast Guard had 22 hits in the nightcap.
Feindel (21-6) worked the first three innings and allowed a pair of hits and struck out four to pickup the win. Catherine Walker pitched the final two innings and allowed three hits.
Marissa Thomas (7-3) went the distance and took the loss for the Mariners.
Meghan Burke had two of Mitchell’s five hits in game two.
Mitchell saw its five-game winning streak snapped as the Mariners dropped to 12-8 on the season.
