 Matt Tolliver won the triple jump and was part of a second place relay team. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/10/10)--Coast Guard won five events and had eight second place finishes, but the Bears finished third in a tri-meet with Springfield and WPI.
The Pride won the meet with 172 points, WPI was second with 118 points while the Bears had 114 points.
Andrew Price won the 1,500 meters (4:08.69), Mike Burke won the 110 hurdles (16.76), Kyle Coleman won the 400 hurdles (55.69), John Jaskot won the high jump (6 feet, 1.25 inches) and Matt Tolliver won the triple jump (43 feet, 1 inch) for the Bears.
Carl Stokes took second place in both the shot put (43 feet, 5.25 inches) and the discus (138 feet, 3 inches), Jaskot placed second in the triple jump (39 feet, 10.5 inches), Bret Morris was second in the 800 meters (2:02.93), Josh Wofford placed second in the 400 meters (50.35) and Myles McCarthy took second in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:31.52).
The Bears had a pair of relays take second place; the 4x100 relay team of Tolliver, Dan Spangler, Wofford and Tieran Bonner finished with a time of 44:08 while the 4x400 relay team of Coleman, Spangler, Morris and Dan Miller posted a time of 3:20.27. |
