 Carl Luxhoj won the long jump to lead the Bears to victory. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/3/10)--Carl Luxhoj won the long jump (23 feet, 3.5 inches) in the long jump as Coast Guard won the 11-team Coast Guard Invitational.
Luxhoj’s jump was good enough to hit the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships. Also in the jumping events, John Jaskot won the high jump clearing 6 feet, 1.25 inches while teammate Matt Tolliver was the runner up in the triple jump with a mark of 44 feet, 0.5 inches.
Kyle Coleman won the 400 intermediate hurdles finishing in 55.28 and leading off the 3rd place finishing 4 x 400 relay with teammates Dan Spangler, Mike Mrkvicka, and Brett Morris running 3:29.32.
Josh Wofford finished 2nd in the 400 meters (50.24) and placed 3rd in the 200 meters (22.44).
In the distance events, Mrkvicka and Trevor Siperek finished 1st and 2nd in the 3000 meter steeplechase running 9:48.56 and 9:48.81. Kevin O’Brien won the 5000 meters running 15:41.00. Andy Price finished 2nd in the 1500 meters running 4:08.66.
Also for the Bears, Devin Adams won the mammer throw with a mark of 152 feet, one inch, while teammate Carl Stokes was the runner up in discus with a throw of 141 feet, three inches.
