Nate Toll picked up a win in his collegiate debut with six solid innings.
FORT MYERS, FLA.--(3/10/10)--Freshman Nate Toll pitched six solid innings in his collegiate debut and Coast Guard scored twice in the third to break a 2-2 tie enroute to its third straight win, a 5-4 win over Dubuque at the Gene Cusic Classic.

The Bears (3-2) got on the board in the first on an RBI single by freshman Riley Beecher and Coast Guard added another run in the second on a RBI single by sophomore Chris Izurieta.

Dubuque scratched across a pair of runs on four hits in the third to tie the game before Coast Guard responded with two runs in the home half on an RBI single by senior John Jeffares while also scoring a run on a double play for a 4-2 lead.

The Spartans (3-1) scored in the fifth, but once again the Bears answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the fifth, an unearned run for a 5-3 lead.

Dubuque scored once in the seventh off Coast Guard reliever junior Mike Ahlin, but that would be all they would get as Ahlin pitched 1 1/3, junior Ben Barrett went two thirds before freshman Tyler Vieira pitched the ninth for the first save of his career.

Toll went six innings and allowed seven hits, three runs, all earned while not walking a batter and striking out one. Coast Guard did not allow a walk in the game.

Izurieta and Beecher each had two hits and an RBI for Coast Guard while senior Ryan Milligan added a pair of hits and classmate Steve Arguelles had a pair of stolen bases in the win.
