Chris Pappe won at #3 singles for the Bears only point.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/20/10)--Vassar, ranked 11th in the Northeast beat Coast Guard 8-1.

Vassar swept the doubles. The strongest Bears showing came from sophomore Greg Mitchell and senior captain Chris Pappe playing at #1 doubles and falling 8-6.

Vassar dominated singles play. The only CGA win came at #3 singles with Pappe beating junior Max Willner (ranked 20th in the Northeast) 6-1, 5-7, 10-8.

Sophomore Nick Martin played a great match at #2 losing to Vassar freshman Andrew Guzik 4-6, 7-6(1), 10-8.

Senior Vince Falco also played a strong match at #5 falling 6-4, 6-3. Andrew was not the only Guzik playing for Vassar today. His brother, sophomore transfer, Ben Guzik, played #1 and beat Mitchell 6-3, 6-1.

The 3-4 Bears travel to Easton, Mass. to play Division II Stonehill. Stonehill is ranked #5 in the East and features the 8th ranked doubles team of Michael Mashkevich and Jonathon Burke.
